On July 12, 2017, the California Assembly Communications and Conveyance Committee voted to approve SB 649 (Hueso) and it will be heard next by the Assembly Appropriations Committee. SB 649 would eliminate local control and public input. The City of Oceanside joins the League of California Cities in opposition to this bill.

Currently, there are no fires within the City of Oceanside city boundary.

The Las Pulgas Fire on Camp Pendleton is what residents are seeing to the north of Oceanside. The Oceanside Fire Chief is in continuous communication with Camp Pendleton Fire. There is no immediate threat to Oceanside residents. The Las Pulgas Fire is several miles north of Oceanside and is north of Vandegrift Blvd on base.

Oceanside - Motel Fire

May 15, 2014 
A motel fire occurred this morning at 888 N. Coast Highway in Oceanside. Response to the fire included Oceanside Fire, Oceanside Police Department and Camp Pendleton Fire. The fire displaced 87 adults and 22 children, mostly evacuees from other area fires. The evacuees are temporarily relocated while it is determined whether the motel guests can return to the rooms. At least one wing of the motel will not have access.

City Completes Water Pump Station

One Arrested at DUI/Driver’s License Checkpoint

September 16, 2013 
Oceanside Police Department’s Traffic Services Unit conducted a DUI/Driver’s License Checkpoint on Friday, September 13, 2013, on Oceanside Bl. west of Rancho Del Oro between the hours of 9:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. Officers contacted 361 drivers during the checkpoint, and arrested one driver for driving under the influence of alcohol. Eleven other drivers were determined to be currently unlicensed, while two others had suspended drivers’ licenses. A total of 18 citations were issued, and nine vehicles were towed.
