The public is invited to a workshop on the future of food waste in Oceanside on April 6 at 4:00 p.m. at the San Luis Rey Wastewater Treatment Plant located at 3950 North River Road.
CITY OF OCEANSIDE: ORGANICS FEASIBILITY STUDY
The City of Oceanside’s Zero Waste Strategic Resource Management Plan sets a goal of 75%-90% diversion from landfill by 2020. In order to achieve this goal and meet recent State recycling and emission mandates, the City is evaluating opportunities for source reduction, food recovery, composting and other technologies for the recycling of food waste, yard waste, and other organics. As a result, the City is undertaking a detailed organics feasibility study to address the technical, environmental and economic viability of increasing local organics processing capacity.
PUBLIC INPUT WORKSHOP
This workshop will provide attendees with an understanding of the options and their relative impacts to the local region for organics processing and zero waste. We invite you to participate in the discussion, ask questions, and provide input about which options are the best fit for Oceanside.
Please join us at the San Luis Rey Wastewater Treatment Plant (3950 North River Road in Oceanside) on April 6, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. to provide your input.
